Former "Hills" star Lauren Conrad has shed her trademark blond locks in favor of a noticeably darker shade.
Conrad, 24, made her first appearance as a brunette Wednesday at CoverGirl's 50th anniversary social gathering in West Hollywood.
According to her stylist, Kristin Ess, Conrad had wanted to alter her hair for a while.
"It was simply time to go for it," Ess instructed UsMagazine.com. "We've finished so many variations of blond in the past, and it is enjoyable to do one thing new."
Ess revealed that Conrad was inspired by the "Brazilian brown" shade seen on Jessica Biel and Mila Kunis.
Conrad's look is composed of a brown base, highlights and a "golden gloss."
In 2008, she advised Us that "there is something so sexy about having lengthy blond hair."
